Answers:
1. SSL certificate plays no part with domain. Both are completely different things. Getting a SSL certificate will show https instead of simple http. And a green padlock sign.
2. SSL is an encryption technology stands for secure socket layer. It's main role is to encrypt the communication between a server and a browser and use https (hyper text transfer protocol secure) protocol as a medium to exchange request!
3. Depends on the seller from where you're getting your ssl certificate. Like GoDaddy charge some monthly fees for it and hostinger is providing it for free for lifetime. So the prices vary based on seller to seller.
4. No SSL certificate is not compulsory for seo purpose. Though it increases the domain authority of the website. It's just tells or shows the visitors that your website is secured and can be trusted.
5. My suggestion on
-When it's not needed:
if your website have simple static pages and informational blogs then you may not need to purchase the SSL certificate because a visitor is not doing any action on it.
-When it's needed:
If you have features like login or an e-commerce website where a person is doing any kind of transaction with your website. Even if it's simple uploading something or downloading then it's a must that you should have a SSL certificate.
Note: SSL certificate are introduced because of many phising or fake websites were realising day by day.
So geeting SSL would tell user that yes your website is not a phising website and it's a genuine one.
But as per recent studies SSL certificate are not 100% secure.
Now the fake SSL certificates also can be created and encryption over https can be decrypted.
But not everyone knows about it. In Today's world nothing is 100 percent secure not even a calculator. Anything which is digital can be hacked, cracked, decrypted.
We can just slow down the process that's all but we can never 100 percent secure anything. And that's what this type of technologies do.
